Leading Design and Architecture magazine, Dezeen has recently covered four23’s redesign of a former precious metal workshop that’s now our studio space.
Spatial Design Director Harriet Paterson was inspired by a photograph of a brass and oak toolbox, the tools of which represent each individual member of the four23 team and their own specialist ability to craft and build.
The toolbox gives a nod to the building’s metalworking heritage and complements the original structure of the building, which includes exposed brick walls and pipework, and 360 black Crittal windows that wrap around the space, flooding it with light.
Movable partitions provide flexibility, dividing the work environment into a reception room, boardroom and creative studio, and transforming it into an open-plan space for special events such as dinners, exhibitions and lectures.
