four23, in partnership with Eurosport and Oakley, have developed a European wide, real-time, digital competition to celebrate the 100th edition of the Tour de France.
‘Conquer The Road’ asked Cyclists across Europe to share an image from their personal riding adventures with #conquertheroad. Using the Twitter, Instagram and Google Maps APIs, the images were pulled real time into an interactive European map, on the competition platform, that can be explored and shared.
Prizes were awarded to the best cycling photographers at the end of every stage of the Tour, with 16 prizes awarded in total. One lucky participant was awarded a unique trip to the Tour de France, to watch the final stage of the race from the Avenue des Champs-Élysées.
Supporting the digital platform was a web series created by four23 called ‘The Journal’, bringing daily behind the scenes insights from the Team Sky tour bus, plus episodes of ‘The Ride’, a documentary produced by Eurosport.
