A Chair In A Room In A House, a special exhibition for London Design Festival and designjunction September 2016.

The Chair, In A Room, In A House

17th to 25th September 2016

The Chair, In A Room, In A House

We continue our series of annual exhibitions at London Design Festival with ‘The Chair, In a Room, In a House’, a playful, interactive installation in our Clerkenwell Studio space.

Using the words of Eliel Saarinen as a foundation, adopted later by Charles and Ray Eames, “A chair in a room, a room in a house, a house in an environment.” - the immersive experience will explore the relationship between our physical surroundings and our ability to think, daydream and create.

Born of Attention

19th to 27th September 2015

Born of Attention

'Born of Attention' is an exhibition exploring the reality of information overload. In recent years, humans have created more information than in all of history before us. Filtering this information comes at a metabolic cost and at times it can seem like our heads are struggling to catch up. So how do we decide what to pay attention to and what to ignore? How do we reclaim a sense of immersion, concentration and attention?

Including a specially commissioned film by artist Jenny Lee and a multi tasking virtual reality experience, 'Born of Attention' will test visitors minds and ask, what it is to 'pay attention’?

We Sailed From The Apex

13th to 21th September 2014

We Sailed From The Apex

Celebrating our 10th anniversary as part of London Design Festival, We Sailed From The Apex takes visitors on a journey through the influences and references that have shaped and defined four23’s approach to design over the last decade.

Founded by friends Warren Bramley and Darryl Hardman, four23 has grown from the two of them sharing an attic space in Manchester, known as The Apex, to become a global communication design studio.

A reflective audio/visual installation, the soul of the exhibition is a written narrative by Warren, sharing 10 lessons and observations from the last decade.

If You Create A Highway

24th to 26th May 2014

If You Create A Highway

‘If You Create A Highway’ started out as studio research project exploring the fluid frameworks that define human relationships, and the role that innovation and technology can play in shaping them.

During Clerkenwell Design Week, four23 bring to life their findings in an exhibition, where visitors, through digital and visual interactions, are encouraged to react, interpret and contribute – becoming part of the wider project to help further shape the research results.

As part of the exhibition, performance poet Ross Sutherland has created a short film that layers parts of the research with his own unique and idiosyncratic observations.
